June House Project Notes Garage Floor Poured The garage floor was poured and a raised section made for the equipment room. Water Heater and Fireplace We are replacing the water heater with a combination unit that will operate the in-floor radiant heating system and provide domestic hot water so the old one had to be removed. Here is the view where the old water heater was located looking into the downstairs bathroom. The second picture also shows the pantry an front entry. The old wood stove has been removed and we will be installing a fireplace. We are using a Heatilator insert, which has arrived but is not yet framed in. Beams above Dining and Kitchen Areas A new beam was installed in the left of this picture over the kitchen area. Bill McKee is sanding and planing the old beam above the opening to the dining room to make them both look the same. New Stair Location and Upstairs We are replacing the old spiral staircase with a regular one. Here the ladder is where the new L-shaped stairs will end up. The old staircase spiraled around a metal center post. We had to replace it with a wooden post. The extra hole will be repaired. Here they are starting to build the framing for the repair. Here is the upstairs looking east. Sure looks different with all the junk cleared out. Go To Top
