Acid Level Tests We got the test results back from the lab on the alpha and beta acid levels in the hops. The Canadian Redvine sample tested out at 47.3% moisture as sent in. The Alpha Acids were 7.0% of the dry weight. The Beta Acids were 7.9% of the dry weight. The Chinook sampled tested at 46.6% moisture as sent in. The Alpha Acids were 12.8% of the dry weight. Mulching As part of the test one set of vines was selected for mulching using waste wool. We elected to mulch the A set this year to test for winter survivability of the vines. We used our skirtings from our sheep to mulch the plants heavily.
