We got the ewe yearlings out to graze the bits of grass coming up around the guesthouse. Why use a lawnmower when you have sheep? The grass must be too young still – it doesn’t taste good yet, and they didn’t like it much. They did have a grand time racing all over and checking out the shop porch. We need a bit more sun for the grass to be palatable for them.

Of course, will real grazing happening soon, it was time to pull out all of our electric fencing that we’d stored away all winter. We really should check them over before we put them in storage, but somehow, we never manage to. So, the first task of the grazing year was to check all the netting and repair any broken wires. We already checked the fence chargers and batteries – they’re OK. Ken repairs any broken bits with hot melt glue and wire as needed.
We got all the stored nets checked and repaired. The only ones we did not check were the ones currently being used for the dogs. We’ll check those and repair them when we move the dogs for guard duty.
