We are well into our managed grazing segment of the year. Currently, we’re running four separate groups of sheep: ewes with lambs, pregnant ewes, yearling ewes, and all of the rams. The yearlings are being used as lawnmowers all around the house. The pregnant ewes are being moved behind the house so they’re close at hand for lambing. We have five to go, but it looks like only one of them is actually pregnant.
Ewes with lambs are currently at the top of the orchard. They will be combined with the yearlings as soon as their lawnmower duties are finished. The rams are all in a bunch down in the far front pear orchard pasture. They will end up on hay when we run out of grass, as we don’t have many areas with ram-suitable fencing.
