One of the tasks we conduct every year is evaluating all of the sheep and deciding their fate. We try to provide top-quality sheep as breeding stock, and that only happens because we cull heavily.
Today, we evaluated all of the adult rams. We currently have 28 rams on the property, and we want to pare that down to a dozen to overwinter. That’s already ten or so more than we need for the number of ewes we have, but we keep several extras in each bloodline in case of accident or injury.
These 28 rams are the top rams left from our group of 157. They are in the top 18% of our rams, so even our lowest-ranked ram is still a pretty good sheep.
All of the rams to be sold are on our sheep for-sale page.
