We went to Montrose to attend the Colorado Woolgrowers’ Convention on the 22nd and 23rd of July. I was thrilled to be chosen as the 2009 Colorado Woolgrower of the Year, “in recognition of your dedication to improving and promoting the Colorado sheep industry.” I managed to finish the cloak, and I wore it up to the award presentation.

This award covers all of Colorado, and it has never been awarded to a small farm flock owner before. It’s also never been given to someone who deals with rare breeds or black sheep. It was truly an honor to be chosen by the industry to represent Colorado shepherds for 2009.
