Remembering Desert Weyr Boba Fett

,

Desert Weyr Boba Fett went to the freezer on the 26th of June, 2025. He was born on May 2nd, 2019, and was the son of Desert Weyr Wibbly and Desert Weyr Yolanda. He was born unassisted and weighed 9.79 pounds at birth. He grew to reach 145.74 pounds. His NSIP USA Maternal EBV Index was 102.52 before the 2025 lambs were included.

Over his productive lifetime, he sired 13 ram lambs and nine ewe lambs. He was known for his sweet disposition, and as he aged, his beautiful, silvery grey, crimpy wool. He liked to rub his horns on the fence, so he’d worn a hole in one horn, but they were beautifully shaped and very even. He was a born leader, keeping the ram lambs in check when he was with them. He’d teach them how to move around the handling facility. He could be counted on to come when called, and although he wouldn’t fit the term “friendly,” he never attempted to butt or threaten humans. He was always a gentleman who was easy to handle.

He spent his entire life on Garvin Mesa in Paonia, Colorado, where he was cared for by his owners, Ken and Oogie McGuire. His manure was used to help fertilize the neighboring vineyard at Stone Cottage Cellars.

Boba Fett is survived by four named sons: Desert Weyr Derrial, Desert Weyr G-Kar, Desert Weyr Gurney, and Desert Weyr Greedo, plus four as-yet unnamed ram lambs from 2025. All five of his named daughters, Desert Weyr Gann, Desert Weyr Garnet, Desert Weyr Gem, Desert Weyr Giselle, and Desert Weyr Guinan, plus four as-yet unnamed ewe lambs from 2025, are still alive. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and five of his sons.

There will be a celebratory dinner of mutton leg steaks served with a Stone Cottage Merlot wine at some point in the future.

Rest in pieces, Boba Fett. You will be missed.
