Like many other farms, here at Desert Weyr, we have our meat processed at a USDA-approved processing plant. They process our sheep who have exhausted their time here on the farm, then return them as individual cuts of meat.
On our farm, though, we take traceable processing one step further. Aside from sausages and ground, all of our packages trace directly back to individual animals. Each box receives a label complete with the animal’s EID, and we pay extra to pack each one separately.
In this era of corporate industry, meat bought from the grocery store often has cuts from multiple animals in each package. Traceability is limited. We’re proud to lead the way in safe, transparent meat packaging practices.
We can even give you the full life history of the animal you purchase, if you want. That’s a lot of peace of mind for your holiday meals this year.
