Larry and I burned another two piles of brush today. It was a lovely day. Ken helped out by putting out small grass fires in the dry pasture. We got almost all of the brush out of the east side of the orchard. Larry will bring his quad and small trailer back and pick up… Continue reading
Today, we started the spring brush burning. All of the prunings from the trees need to be disposed of. Larry had a large pile set aside, and Ken burned it today. There is still a lot out in the orchard – we’ll have several burn piles to go through – but this is a good… Continue reading
We got the second part of our sign up today. Now, people will easily know what we do and sell here. We also have a sign up by the barn that shows the UK association logo, since we’re also members of that association. Continue reading

Larry got all of the gates for the last section of the elk fence (except for one) up this week. We’ll either have to add more dirt under them or add an additional piece of wire. They’re set as close to the ground as we can get them, but the ground slopes enough to make… Continue reading
The weather has been warming, and much of the snow has melted. Larry and Andrew got two sections of the fence wired up. It’s not tied off at the posts yet, but it’s in place, and it looks wonderful. Continue reading

We’ve gone through the orchard and marked the trees that are in the best condition, and Larry will prune them hard to reinvigorate them. It’s going to be a big bonfire when we finally burn all of the branches this spring! Continue reading

Larry came out on New Year’s Day to deliver the gates for the elk fence. We are storing them out front so they’re easy to get when the snow melts. We also had to dig out the wire and move it to the new fence line. Larry wants to take his tractor home, so we… Continue reading

Today was quite a busy day here at the farm. Things didn’t really get started until the afternoon, but we had a lot to do. Our first problem was the septic tank. We’ve had some sewer gas backing up into the house when we do laundry. The plumber came yesterday, and we found a trap… Continue reading

To get the back cedars section ready for Larry, we had to take down the old fence that was there. This is where the new fence will go. Ken moved a bunch of rocks out and smoothed the ground. Here’s another view of the new fence. A look at where the new fence line will… Continue reading

With the front west orchard pasture now reseeded and back to permanent pasture, we needed to install a more permanent divider fence. The fence is far enough away from the trees that we can get the tractor and marker down beside them, but not too far into the next pasture. With a good, solid welded… Continue reading
