We just finished the ewe evaluations for fall. I’ve updated our sales list to show the dozen yearlings we’re offering as breeding stock. We’re keeping 52 breeding ewes, and these yearlings will be some great breeding sheep. They’re all double-registered in the US and UK. All are NSIP recorded with Self Replacing Carcass EBVs ranging… Continue reading
Most folks do a spring cleaning, but we’ve added so many new products and sold out of others, so I decided it was time for a Spring shop cleaning. We completely reorganized the farm shop. I think it came out pretty well! I’m adding many of the new items to our online store as well.… Continue reading
We’re cleaning out a bunch of stuff, so I’ve decided to give away and sell some of it. Nothing will be shipped – you must be able to come pick up your things at our farm in Paonia on Garvin Mesa. Some things are already gone, and I’ll be adding more later. Free stuff For… Continue reading

Desert Weyr BaaBaa and Desert Weyr Martha are traveling to their new home via the back seat of a Subaru Legacy. Black Welsh sheep are small and fairly well-behaved. On Sunday morning, we headed to the town park for the Mountain Harvest Festival Farmers’ Market. Ray came to help at the booth. He took care of it so I could take the occasional break. Monica from Small Potatoes Farm was also there selling potatoes and garlic braids. It was a good day. We had… Continue reading
We’ve started our fall sheep sales. This batch of lovely yearlings is heading off to MO to join a new flock there. They’re also getting two adult rams. Meanwhile, another small flock of three ewe lambs and a ram lamb will go to another new flock, but they haven’t been sorted out yet. Meanwhile, this… Continue reading
We’ve got lots of socks in stock. Our big order has arrived. We now have crew, knee-high, and terry socks for sale. These are 70% Black Welsh wool and 30% nylon. They should be hand-washed and dried flat. They will be too coarse for some people, but they’re very durable and warm. They make great… Continue reading
We don’t have enough regular vendors to hold a regular market, but for the open business day, we held a small market in downtown Paonia. Here’s Monica from Small Potatoes Farm and our Desert Weyr farm booth. Here’s Flying Fork’s fresh-baked goods and Fire Mountain with some vegetables. There were some lovely tomatoes from another… Continue reading
We shipped out four yearling ewes to start a new flock up in Wyoming. They escaped and headed straight for the open gate, but Ken got in front of them. We got them all caught and trailered up again eventually. Ken also cut some additional Trex railing pieces for me to mark more garden beds.… Continue reading
