Digging Sheep Paths

, ,

We had a lot of snow last night. Our power was out for about eight hours. It’s a heavy, wet snow, and it warmed up enough to fall off the barn all at once.

The snow on top of the barn has fallen off, collecting in drifts around it.
These snow drifts are nearly waist high.

I sure hope there were no sheep under that. They usually run to the end of the pen to wait it all out. Ken had to dig a path so the sheep could get to their hay.

Here is Ken digging a path for the sheep through the snow.
The sheep here are waiting for Ken to dig a path to their hay.

This is an adult ewe – she gives a good visual of just how deep the snow is in places.

This ewe looks a little unsure about walking through the drifts.
