    Sheep, Shipped!

    , ,

Ron Keener picked up two rams bound for Texas. We’re now pretty much sold out of sheep until we wean lambs in the fall. I still have a few adult rams that I could sell, but no adult ewes to speak of. Continue reading

    Shop Work

The shop floor has been sealed and painted, and the metal on the sides is up. The metal is to help prevent any fires if sparks from welding bounce around and hit the drywall. We used leftover metal roofing material from various projects, so we have a colorful shop! Continue reading

    Visitors

Roy and Pim from the Netherlands have arrived for a short visit. We stored a mountain bike for Roy for a few years in our garage. I know Pim from my old multimedia programming days. We had a fun time visiting with them. I hope they enjoy their US stay and ride a lot of… Continue reading

  • Construction, Again!

    Construction, Again!

It’s the 9th of July, and Bill McKee moved his construction trailer back on-site to finish the last of the work that the shop needs. Blog updates have been slow. I’ve had problems getting pictures uploaded, which is the reason for all the delays. We should be about caught up now, though. Continue reading

    End of Lambing

    , ,

It’s the 5th of July, and it’s the official end of lambing. We had 73 lambs born, of which six were stillborn. Not too bad! We had four ewes who did not lamb. Two will be butchered, and two will get a second chance next year. Continue reading

The 4th of July is the big local Charry Days festival. We took the entire day off to enjoy the show. It starts early in the morning with a pancake breakfast that benefits the local fire department. Next is the Cherry Days Parade. If you aren’t in the parade, you better be watching it! The… Continue reading

    First Cutting Hay Is In!

    ,

It’s the 3rd of July, and the rest of the first cutting hay is in the barn. It’s less than half the hay we got last year – only 23 tons – but it’s good quality. We’ve already called and reserved another 32 tons from another farmer, and we may buy more if the second… Continue reading

    Painting Finished and First Hay

    , , ,

The painting of the new shop is finished. It came out looking really nice. We have a few things left to finish on the inside, and then, we’ll finally be done. Today, we got the first of the hay for the year loaded into the barn. We received three loads of about 70 bales each.… Continue reading

    Chicks Are Growing

    ,

The baby chicks are growing well and feathering out nicely. We already turned off the big heater, and now they only have a few heat lamps at night. Soon, we’ll be able to turn those off, too. Continue reading

    Painting

Baxter Painting is here to finish the exterior of the shop. We decided that an all-red shop would be too glaring, so instead, we’re doing a white body with red trim. It’s still bright, but it should stay nice and cool in summer, too. Continue reading
