One of the tasks every year is to evaluate all the sheep and decide who we are keeping vs who is for sale or will go to slaughter. We try to provide top quality sheep as breeding stock and that only happens because we cull heavily.

Today was the evaluations on the adult rams. We currently have 28 adult rams on the place and want to be down to a dozen that we will keep over winter. That’s already about 10 more than we need for the number of ewes we have but we keep several good rams in each bloodline we are maintaining in case of accident or injury.

These 28 rams are the top rams left out of a total of 157 we have bred during the years these boys were born. They are in the top 18% of the rams so even our lowest ranked ram is still a pretty good sheep.

All the newly added sale rams are on our sheep for sale page.
